The small town of Tagounite is at the gates of the desert, south east of Morocco, in the Draa Valley . The oases, palm groves, the mountain slopes and rocky escarpments, the kasbahs, small adobe villages, and finally the mer de sable, dunes like the sea: all this is its framework, of immeasurable beauty ...

 Cozy and recommended by the guide Lonely Planet , (ed. Italiana 2009) Café Restaurant du Sud, owned by the Balatif family, is located at the entrance of Tagounite, on the right side of the main alley. You can eat at any time of the day , or simply savor a tea on the terrace .

Come with us to the desert and ask for a special meal, like the michoui (roast in a traditional oven), pastry, or a tajine barkok (with plums, for the most demanding palates!

The "boss", father of Abderrahim, Habib , has been internationally recognized as a cook by the Slow Food World Association , andparticipates in cultural gastronomy events in Europe every year organizing traditional Moroccan food tastings. He also teaches Moroccan cooking courses in Italy several times a year.
